my adventures ... and mis-adventures, as they may be

can I get a break here?

Ok, so it's been a while. I've been busy, what are you gonna do about it?

The trip to Austin was a lot of fun. We ate at a restaurant that used to be the Real World: Austin house, which was delicious, hung out at Coyote Ugly and the Dizzy Rooster, and (oh yeah) attended the Southwest Psychological Association convention. A good time was had by all, and the beds at the Mariott-Capitol Hotel ROCK! Unfortunately, the stay at the hotel was not really worth the cost - no continental breakfast, pretty outrageous prices on using the Internet, and $4 bottles of water. But ... the beds were nice.

So I actually had a few days where I did not even think about doing homework. Of course, that means that when I was back, I had a lot of catching up to do. Catching up that I am still working on catching up on.

Last night I got nothing done because when Ryan went to replace our old doorknob on our front door, he found that it was a giant doorknob that required a big hole to be made in the inner part of the door. That means ... we need a new door. Got his dad, along with his pickup, and went over to Home Depot (again) and picked out a door that cost about $200. We brought it home and ... (drumroll) ... it's 2 inches too tall! So now there is a door sitting in our hallway, and Ryan has to get his dad again and return the door tonight, then special order a door that will fit into our frame. How did we get to be so lucky??

wondering ...

Is it just me, or are all the women on the Weather Channel a bunch of Stepford wives? I was checking the weather earlier, and I noticed that the three women who were the current anchors were all blond, cute, and basically looked about the same.

Anyway. I'm excited about going to Austin tomorrow. I think that I am all packed, or that's what I will think until I'm a couple of hours down the road. I've been told that I am a pretty good packer - well, a light packer at least. I guess that is a good thing. I think it's my Tetris skills coming back, but that's just me.

So when we went grocery shopping yesterday, we picked up a couple boxes of Jones Soda - Fufu Berry for me, Green Apple for Ryan. Well, I seriously just want to drink all of mine. I've had one, so there are three left (ok, now I sound like Brian Regan's "Donut Lady"). I really just want to open them up and chug them.

Heehee - on Amazon recently, I searched for water filters to take backpacking, and so now when I go to their site, they have water filter recommendations for me. Well, one of them looks like the penis enlarger pump thing from "Austin Powers." Heehee. God, I thought I had grown out of that stage.

Today is Friday - and payday, which makes it extra nice. Bonus: no Bingo this Sunday. I'm not really feeling very motivated today. I have a bit of work to do, but I just want to look at craigslist and shop for SF apartments.

Next week is my trip to Austin, which I think will be a lot of fun - if I can stay awake until a decent hour. I do not want to be the party pooper!

i can see ... the light!

So finally, I think my sickness is coming to an end. I am still coughing a bit, but it is not the hacking that I was doing last week. Actually for the past 3 weeks. So bad. Anyway, I was well enough to call Bingo last night, and it actually went pretty well. While I'm doing it, it's not so bad ... it's just thinking about it beforehand, and then afterwards thinking that I have to do it again in a couple of weeks anyway. Joy.

My little sister had a soccer game on Saturday, which was fun to watch. Most of them don't really know what they are doing, which I think makes it even more fun. I figure, just let them run around and kick the ball all over the place for a few years, and then later they can get serious about it.

My daylight savings time resolution: I will take more pictures and post them. I need to start carrying my phone in my hand at all times, I guess, so that I can take pictures. They will be nothing fancy like what I take with my Canon, but they're a lot easier to post.
